RISE OF TIAMAT CAMPAIGN NOTES PLAYER CHARACTERS Rand, Human Rogue Rodrick, Elf Wizard Matthis, Human Fighter Clank, Warforged Paladin Ablex, Human Barbarian Liddia, Human Cleric Samantha, Human Witch CAMPAIGN NOTES - Newest Dates First ***** 12/7/20107 ***** 1. ***** 11/29/2017 ***** 1. Before it began, a war ended…. The Battle at Aldor’s Drift (as the clearing in the jungle the heroes first fought the undead army came to be known) was a brief, bloody clash. Outnumbered, ambushed a superior force, flanking them from both sides and wiping all but the enemy commander from the face of the earth. The necromancer fled, and the small army of jungle elves, native men and adventurers feared encountering an even larger force of enemy reinforcements. But the expected hammer blow never came. As quickly as they appeared, the undead vanished from the isle’s lowlands. The ancient bridge to the legendary plateau above the mountains disappeared, and any passes or valleys were closed as if they had never existed. Perpetual shadow and clouds wreathed the lands around the central mountains and covered the plateau in gloom. For the time being, the isle was safe. Unable to pursue the mysterious enemy behind the Cult of the Dead, the heroes set about harvesting the material wealth of the island. Trading stations were set up all over the island, and peace was made between all of the good races – jungle elf, native men, catfolk, merfolk, neanderthals, and even the reclusive “monkey men” (the tree-dwelling lemur-like phanaton race). Goods were collected and with its hold stuffed, the ship set sail for the mainland. ***** 2. A year has passed, and the PC's have settled in to life in and around Baldur's Gate. Rand - Bought a manor estate outside of Baldur's Gate, Bonnybrook. He spent his time learning languages and managing a burgeoning business empire. Aldor - He was able to seek out a healer for his injuries. He gave up the berzerker axe, and settled down to help his family out. A tragic accident occured at the family forge, and it killed Aldor's father. He retired from adventuring, sending in his place a friend from faraway lands, Ablex the Mulhorandi warrior. Mathis - He joined the Flaming Fists, the standing army of Baldur's Gate. He rose to the rank of sergeant. Clank - He opened up a home for street urchins, and befriended a rogue named Zevron to assist in running it. Roderick - He bought controlling interest in "The Silken Veil", a high-end brothel in the upper-class district of Baldur's Gate. ***** 3. PC's were visited by Remallia Haventree, a Harper who informed them that the Cult of the Dragon is seeking to reunite Tiamat's body with her hell-trapped soul. So far, the Harpers have only hints, but they believe that the Cult is seeking the five "dragon masks" central to the ritual. Remallia tells them of a powerful new initiate to the Cult, a gnomish wizard named Finwick Sparkwizzle. He is said to have come from a mysterious island far to the south. He is reputedly seeking the White Dragon Mask, thought to be somewhere in the Serpent Hills. With it, he could become a powerful "wyrmspeaker", who can command the powers of the dragons themselves. He was last seen in in Boareskyr Bridge with a sizable band of dangerous-looking followers. Seeing as they too were rumored to have come from this same mysterious island, she wondered if they knew the wizard. Of course...it was the same gnomish bastard that betrayed them in the swamps and fled, leaving them at the mercy of a young black dragon's wrath. How he ended up in the Sword Coast is anyone's guess. ***** 4. Deciding to take a route that did not take them through the Fields of the Dead, they skirted the Sword Coast, and traveled up the Winding Water through the Troll Hills by canoe. The trip was uneventful until they encountered a band of wounded, starving trolls. Seeing that they were no match for the experienced heroes, the trolls surrendered and told them of their plight - a small wizard and his warband had passed through the area. The wizard commanded the loyalty of a red dragon, who decended upon the troll tribes and slaughtered them. The heroes spared the trolls, in exchange for a shortcut through the hills.
